{macro} paper cut art

08/29/2010

I stumpled across this gorgeous  paper cut art work on designboom the other day & had to share…

It was created at the Free University of Bozen by its students. Not only is it a large scale piece, it’s also wonderfully three-dimensional. I picked these two images to share here because they beautifully capture the shadows cast by the art, adding a fourth dimension to these stunning pieces! Notice how in the first image the shadows are soft, and sharp in the latter. & I love how the art mirrors the architecture of the university’s building and blends with its colors. Brilliantly thought-out & executed!

Great post, thanks for sharing! I just discovered paper as a medium and started using it in my studio. This was inspiring. Thanks again! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! I haven’t yet worked with paper on this large scale but I love the thought of it. One day!
